Job Description

Job Summary

The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management within the school. They ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, develop and implement HR policies and procedures, and provide support to school leadership, teachers, business and support staff in matters related to human resources.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Staffing

Manage the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations.
Collaborate with school leaders and managers to identify staffing needs and ensure that positions are filled in a timely manner.

Onboarding and Orientation

Develop and implement an effective onboarding program for new employees, including orientation sessions and training on school policies and procedures.

HR Policies and Compliance

Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures that comply with relevant employment laws and regulations.
Ensure that all staff members are aware of and adhere to school policies.

Employee Relations

Address employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances in a fair and timely manner.
Promote a positive and inclusive work environment and facilitate communication between staff and school leadership.
Demonstrates the School Values in every interaction.

Growth Plan

Manage the growth planning process, including annual interviews, ant performance or capability issues, and personal development plans.
Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees regarding performance standards and professional development.

Benefits Administration

Working with the Finance Manager, develop in-house payroll capability
Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
Assist employees with pay and benefit-related inquiries and issues.

Compliance and Reporting

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Maintain accurate records and generate reports related to HR activities.

Training and Development

Working with the Director of Teacher Training & Professional Development and the COO, identify, develop or coordinate professional development programs for all staff.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Staff Retention and Engagement

Develop strategies to enhance staff morale, job satisfaction, and retention.
Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data to identify areas for improvement. Safety and Risk Management:
Oversee safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
Collaborate with school administrators to address safety concerns and emergencies.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field
Master's degree in related field is a plus
Minimum of 10 years experience
HR certification is essential
Proven experience in HR management, preferably in an educational setting.
Proven HR management in an educational setting.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Start-up experience is a plus
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all employees, resolve conflicts, and build relationships with staff at all levels.
Effective verbal and written communication is crucial.
The ability to lead by example and provide guidance and support to their HR teams and the broader organization.
Highly skilled at analyzing complex situations, identifying problems, and making informed decisions.
